Convention Calendar Updated

What is up folks and folkettes, my convention calendar for 2018 has been updated to its most current state. Five confirmed shows and several tentative and pending (will be listed soon ish). Probably not going to beat last year's dirty dozen run, but maybe... maybe...

Changes! Picture of the Week & Stuff

Greetings folks! So, check this out: 2017 is coming to an end, which means it's time for features to start winding down. POW is done for the year while I shuffle some stuff around with it. I know, it's been an unbroken streak of a couple years, but skipping the last three "technical" days for POW will allow me time to set up the start for next year.

What is POW doing next year, you ask? Well, it's growing. Instead of a two day a week thing, it'll be moving to three days a week, shunting from Wed/Sat to Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Three times the pictures, one times the weeks. I suppose I'll need a new acronym. P('S)OW?

...I'll figure it out.

This also means New Art Mondays will shuffle a bit, bumping to every second Saturday as my output allows. Which means NAM is now NAS! Say goodbye New Art Mondays, say hello Network Attached Storage--I mean New Art Saturdays! Or maybe I'll call it the New Art Weekend.

Ah, Hell NAW.

Damn, did I just accidentally name my new feature? I think I may have.

Everything else will stay the same, which is to say, "whenever." Because you can't reschedule something that isn't scheduled to begin with.

There will also be an increased focus on social media, primarily Instagram which will become my central hub for most first run content. Everything will filter from there to Facebook and Twitter, so if you're looking for the latest and greatest you'll need to head on over to your social media of choice and give @pkdigitalarts a follow. Everything will continue to post to the website, so don't worry if you're not into the 'gram, but it'll be on a slightly modified schedule.

In the mean time, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, all that fun stuff. And see you next year, where I will run myself ragged producing AS MUCH ART AS I POSSIBLY CAN.

Changes! Just In Time For 2018

2017 is coming to a close, and I'm taking a much needed break. No more posts (they're all scheduled), no more shows (they're all done), no more work for the last few weeks of the year. I broke 10,000 kilometres (10,700 in total) in the course of hitting a dozen shows across BC, Alberta, Saskatoon, and Manitoba. Slept in half a dozen hotels and hostels, and three gas station parking lots. Crossed four provinces. I sleep now.

It also means that with 2018 right around the corner, there are some changes coming down the internet tubes. Namely a shift in focus. While the ol' blog here has been serving me well for the past few years, it's time for an update. Starting in January the blog will be going away (kind of), and the focus will be shifting to social media. Content will still hit the site of course, but it will be a more structured, or if you prefer "curated," approach.

Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter will be the new wild west. Everything will hit there, then if I like it enough it will bounce to the website. And as always, conventions get first look at anything new. The blog will be replaced with a social hub, where content posted to Instagram will appear as it is posted. So pretty much the same as things are now. Really the only major thing affected will be Picture of the Week. Which will be affected A LOT.

How "a lot" you ask? Well, think of it as a sort of reboot. It's been over two and a half years since POW#0001 hit the site. In that time I've tweaked pretty much all of them, completely redone some of them, and utterly replaced a few of them. Some of them I haven't actually really looked at in ages, and most of them have descriptions and spiels that probably haven't actually been seen. Like ever.

So, I'm starting at POW#0001 and unleashing them on the world! Again! The last few of 2017 will go live, hitting a satisfying #250. At which point they'll take a break for a week or so, then they'll be moving from Wed/Sat to Mon/Wed/Sat (with digital stuff falling pretty much whenever I happen to put something together) and starting from scratch. I'm looking forward to revisiting the POW archives and unleashing them on a whole new audience. It will also allow me to shift my focus onto some other major projects I want to tackle.

What other projects, you ask? Well, a few months down the road I will be doing what I like to call "I Don't Have A Name For It Yet" where every month I'll be featuring a different gallery subject in greater detail. At present the galleries are snapshots of subjects that interest me, featuring a small selection of photos. With IDHANFIT the gallery will feature all sorts of stuff. Photos I think are my best, photos that aren't but that interest me, alternate angles and takes, and shots I wouldn't otherwise post, mixed in with assorted thoughts and musings. Fun fact: Did you know I have about 7000 photos of jousts, knights, and medieval fights and faires? Yeah, there's some cool stuff in there to show off.

So every month you can swing by, load up the featured gallery, and check out an array of old, new, and interesting shots. No matter where you follow me, there'll be something new for you to see. 2018 is all about FILLING YOUR EYEBALLS WITH PICTURES AND IMAGES and so long as there's internet there's no stopping me!

Also check out my finally functioning store! You can buy things even when I'm not strung out on caffeine! Wait... you can buy things whenever you want now even when I'm not in a booth!

In the mean time, enjoy your assorted Holidays!

I Sell Photos Now

Got something new I'm starting up for the new website design, but I figured why not, let's unleash this a bit early. After a successful trial run offline, I'm moving it online: framed photography!

A lot of this website is dedicated to photography. Most of it, actually. So it seems weird that the majority of my sales are from the digital side. Well, now we're levelling the playing field. Maybe you want a photo. Maybe you want it framed. Maybe you have a lot of money and don't want as much any more. Well, you're in luck.

I'll be adding new photos as current ones sell through, so check back now and then to see what I currently have available. And if there are any photos on the site that you like the look of, well, you're also in luck. Whether you're interested in one of my picks, or a pick of your own,  head on over to the Contact Me page and get in touch. We can figure out what works, and how to get the photos from my wall to yours.

Click through to see what I have currently available. The proper page will go live with the site changeover, which should happen in the coming weeks.

Now Accepting Cards!

That's right folks, after how many (lots) of years doing conventions and markets, I've finally upgraded my operation enough that starting with the Back to the 90s Party market in Kensington on August 19th, I can accept credit cards! No more sending folks to the ATM, now you can just hemorrhage your dollars right there and then, without the added hassle of being reminded of how much money you're spending.

Everybody wins but mostly me!

Gallery Updates

I've been busy behind the scenes working on... like twelve projects. Today. One of them is updating the photo galleries. As I've been focusing heavily on the digital side these past few months, and getting things settled for the rest of the year, the photo side of my work has fallen by the wayside a bit.

The galleries weren't regularly updated, what was there was essentially just "here's a gallery, enjoy" without the finer touches.

Well, I'm fixing that. Finally spurred on by switching over to Capture One from Lightroom (never looking back), I'm going through my entire photo library and redoing them. From scratch. It's making me approach things from an entirely different viewpoint, as some of these photos are now two or three years old.

The galleries are also updating. There's a larger focus on curated images now, ensuring that each gallery is more cohesive and has a better flow through the images. Which, hopefully, will make it more enjoyable for you find folks to browse the galleries. I'll also be regularly updating them, though for the most part the Picture of the Week feature will be the primary avenue for new photos outside of specific subjects.

In the mean time, enjoy what's up. It's a process in progress. The Calgary Flood, American Battlefields, and Architecture galleries have all been updated, with others to follow in the coming week or so.

More changes! Big changes! If you visited me at CCEE this year you may have noticed I had some new stuff. I'm talking banners and the like. Well, that's sort of the direction I'm shifting. I did the "sleek and modern" look for a while and you know what? Meh. I'm bored of it. Time for a change. The major changeover of the look was the precursor to that. Getting the technical ducks in a row so that when I start doing new stuff, it doesn't drive me insane.

I mean, it will still drive me insane because let's face it, I insist on redoing everything every time to ensure it's just right. But I digress.

So stay tuned. You can already see some things happening. Check out that snazzy new Digital of the Week, or Weekly Digital, or whatever I end up settling on calling it, off to the side there. That'll be changing every week. You can totally click it to go to its page and check it out bigger. Also buy it. If you want to.

If you want to.

You want to.

Want to buy it.

But yeah, lots more content type content coming. That whole Cinematastica thing I started but kinda stalled on? That's coming full on. Which means you're going to be positively bombarded with... me.

Photos, digitals, blogs, every week. Basically it's like having me as a bad roommate who won't move out. Until you buy my things.

So keep on coming around, I want to try and get things moving so much there's always something new to check out.

NAM Hiatus (For like a month)

It's that time of year again. Time for me to start spinning the gears, getting ready for CCEE 2017 (and beyond, bu this one is the start of the work for the year). As such, NAM's taking a brief haitus again. It will return early/mid May with a whole bunch of new designs, all of which I've yet to make, but will likely crank out while at the con. In the mean time, POW'll keep going as usual. There will also be updates before, during, and after the con itself. So stay tuned for THAT stuff.

New Projects!

Also my previous pug post was one of my highest hitting posts ever, so HAVE ANOTHER ONE!

But yeah, I've got some cool new projects in the works. One of them I can't talk about just yet. But the others? If you've ever checked out my fantasy steampunk work, and thought "Hey this is kind of cool but it almost seems like it was originally created at a lower resolution" well guess what, you're right.

Starting whenever I happen to get around to it (but no, actually real soon) I'm going to be rebuilding them completely. From scratch. In higher res, with more detail and all sorts of new goodies. Not only that, I'm making new ones to go with them. And maybe some other cool stuff.

So stay tuned! On top of these, the secret project AND a whole bunch more movie posters are coming your way.

Also probably some more pugs because PUGS = DEM SWEET SWEET HITS

News: The return of NAM and other stuff

On October 17th, New Art Mondays will be returning! Got a bunch of stuff lined up for you fine folks, so that's pretty awesome.

Also working behind the scenes on some maintenance type stuff. What type of type stuff? Well, there has been a lot of change in how I do things. The website started as essentially a digital resume. I had galleries of stuff, and you could email me, but that was about it.

But now? Now there's a bit of everything. Weekly posts, news, updates, digital stuff, conventions, the whole measure. So I'm doing some work behind the scenes to bring things more in line with how things are now. Instead of generic (or no) info on things, there will actually be stuff. Galleries will be tweaked slightly. Some links will change. Some stuff will go away, and new stuff will appear.

If you're been to the /digitals page recently you'll see things are already shifting. More of that. New versions of some designs are also appearing (yes, I'm pulling a George Lucas) because, well, I like the new versions of things better. Sometimes when I design something new I stumble across a design I want to apply to old versions. It's part of the process I stumble my way through.

There will also be a heavier focus (particularly in NAM) on writing and drawing. Not just the digital stuff I usually do, but a sort of minimalisty type humour thing I've got going. You'll see, it'll make sense when they start to appear. Or not. Who knows.

But anyway, onward and upward as they say. And maybe I'll see you in November at the Holiday Market.

How Many Good Ones?

Tin God Vons!

Also I may be running slightly behind on the New Art Monday entries as I gear up for conventions next month, so... there may not be a NAM this coming Monday. Or there may be, I don't know. Stay tuned! There will be some cool stuff this week at any rate.

POW! New Gallery!

Heya folks. I've been quietly toiling away behind the scenes, and I've finally finished tweaking the pictures such that it's ready. If you head over to the photography page, right up top there's a new gallery: the Picture of then Week archives.

So if you want to check out a bunch of random photos I've taken, or want to get caught up (#100 is coming!) then that's the place to be.

And now that that's done, I can get to work uploading my 100+ Brooks Medieval Faire 2016 pictures.

Joy! *Sleep When Dead*

POW, NAM, and a Whole Lotta' Swords

Heading out to Brooks in about twelve hours and change to set up my camp for the weekend, where I'll be sleeping after long days getting shots of this years Brooks Medieval Faire jousts. Excitement! Knights and Swords and Horses and Drinking Stuff from Horns!

Which also means a massive photo dump will happen in about a week. In the mean time, everything else carries on as planned. I am in the process of updating all previous POW posts so things will be easier to navigate, which is awesome. Also, quicker to load. Also awesome!

Also have a couple more NAMs set up for the next rotations, so look forward to those ones.

As for the YouTube thing... it's coming.

NAM Hiatus

No NAM this week, or for a few weeks. I'm taking the next few weeks to finalize designs and prep for printing for convention season, so I'm not going to be adding new stuff while I focus on that stuff. But don't worry, NAM will be back sometime... some time...
