A NEW SHOW! by Paul Keely

Well hot damn, look at that!

I’ve transplanted myself on the other side of the country, and somehow managed to unpack enough to find my convention stuff. So why not do a show or two?

Well, I got my first one lined up. If you’re in Newmarket, Ontario on November 17th and you’ve got some time, come on down to the Newmarket Community Centre for the Newmarket Card & Comics Show XL Edition.

New Instagram Account by Paul Keely

What is up folks. I'm starting a whole re-branding thing with my art, and step one is a quick Instagram tweak. While before I've been focusing solely on the one account with photography, I'll be splitting it into TWO now.

@pkdigitalarts is now @pkdigitalarts_photo, and will remain focused on photographs and picture of the day.

The new account, @pkdigitalarts_design, will be where all my digital art will be headed, as I try to focus more on that.

So be sure to follow both. And if you haven't followed my first one, hey maybe give it a look.

And stay tuned, because there's a WHOLE ton of stuff coming. New website look, new logo, new... just, just everything.

Cancellations by Paul Keely

Unfortunately due to travel commitments I’m unable to attend the Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo or Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo this year.

I hope to get things sorted and make it out for 2019!

Otafest Cancellation by Paul Keely

Unfortunately I'm still not 100%, so I won't be attending Otafest. The rest of the gang from A Bunch of Artists will still be down there of course, so check them out!

My next show will be the Calgary Horror Con.

Military Museums Cancellation by Paul Keely

Siiiiiiick. Stupid sick. I unfortunately can't muster the energy to drag myself out of bed let alone down to the grounds. And if I can't put on a proper show for you folks, I don't want to waste everyone's time. Also, breathing is a struggle, so there is that as well. Hopefully I'll see everyone at Otafest, but for now I'm out of commission.

Otafest! by Paul Keely

For the first time in ever, I'll be attending Otafest! The Bunch of Artists crew will be running booth #114 and I'll have a corner or a wall or something set-up with a selection of my stuff. I am also seriously considering bringing a couple fantasy prints out of retirement for this show, since this is likely going to be my only kick at Otafest. So come on down, May 18 - 20 (I'll be there on Friday and Saturday ONLY) and grab some loot from A Bunch of Artists (And Me).

Convention Calendar Updated by Paul Keely

What is up folks and folkettes, my convention calendar for 2018 has been updated to its most current state. Five confirmed shows and several tentative and pending (will be listed soon ish). Probably not going to beat last year's dirty dozen run, but maybe... maybe...

I Know I'm Human... by Paul Keely

A new poster for the gallery! John Carpenter's sciifi horror classic The Thing, a yearly Halloween staple and one of the best horror movies of its kind. There are movies with atmosphere, and there are movies with amazing gore and special effects, and there are movies with amazing acting. But this one crammed them all together in a claustrophobic, paranoia infested Antarctic hell. It's a film that stands the test of time, and will undoubtedly continue to do so for decades to come.

Heroes Don't Fear the Dark by Paul Keely

What lurks in the dark? JESUS CHRIST IT'S LITERALLY NIGHTMARES AND THEY HAVE SPEAR HANDS! Dead Space is one of my favourite games, a masterclass on horror video game design. The structure, the setting, the sound design, the level design, everything is built in such a perfectly balanced way to guide you through a nightmare.

And then Dead Space 2 and 3 happened and eeeeh they're still pretty solid games, but nowhere near the highs of Dead Space.

And so, here's a poster. Enjoy!

Changes! Picture of the Week & Stuff by Paul Keely

Greetings folks! So, check this out: 2017 is coming to an end, which means it's time for features to start winding down. POW is done for the year while I shuffle some stuff around with it. I know, it's been an unbroken streak of a couple years, but skipping the last three "technical" days for POW will allow me time to set up the start for next year.

What is POW doing next year, you ask? Well, it's growing. Instead of a two day a week thing, it'll be moving to three days a week, shunting from Wed/Sat to Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Three times the pictures, one times the weeks. I suppose I'll need a new acronym. P('S)OW?

...I'll figure it out.

This also means New Art Mondays will shuffle a bit, bumping to every second Saturday as my output allows. Which means NAM is now NAS! Say goodbye New Art Mondays, say hello Network Attached Storage--I mean New Art Saturdays! Or maybe I'll call it the New Art Weekend.

Ah, Hell NAW.

Damn, did I just accidentally name my new feature? I think I may have.

Everything else will stay the same, which is to say, "whenever." Because you can't reschedule something that isn't scheduled to begin with.

There will also be an increased focus on social media, primarily Instagram which will become my central hub for most first run content. Everything will filter from there to Facebook and Twitter, so if you're looking for the latest and greatest you'll need to head on over to your social media of choice and give @pkdigitalarts a follow. Everything will continue to post to the website, so don't worry if you're not into the 'gram, but it'll be on a slightly modified schedule.

In the mean time, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, all that fun stuff. And see you next year, where I will run myself ragged producing AS MUCH ART AS I POSSIBLY CAN.

POW#0225: FLAMING MARSHMALLOW by Paul Keely

You ever start making smores and next thing you know you're just eating chocolate while burning marshmallows? Yeah, I can't remember the last time I actually ATE smores. But I can remember the last time I stared deep into the crimson flames as they washed across the shores of molten sugar, charring them into a crisp oblivion. I've seen things, man.

Also, check this out: it's the final POW post of the year! Yes, there are a couple more pow's technically, but there are some changes to the Picture of the Week I want to make for the new year, so I'm finishing off with a nice even number (this one completes Volume 5) to end the year, then I'll be starting up the new POW next year.
